- An alloy of copper and tin with a small addition of phosphorus which acts as a deoxidant and improves the properties of the metal.
- Because of its good resistance to corrosion, high tensile strength and low coefficient of friction, phosphorous bronze is widely used for springs and contacts in clocks, switches, gears and bearings.
